A characteristic element is the “Diamante” high-rise building, a vertical structure of 140 metres. Great importance has been given to innovation: the entire Porta Nuova Varesine complex has been constructed ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

A cutting-edge technology used for the first time in Italy, making it possible to limit the dimensions of the pillars
The “Varesine” section is part of this complex transformation project for a zone adjacent to the historic centre, inserted in the northern part of Milan. Situated between Garibaldi Station and Piazza della Repubblica, the Varesine area involved is approximately 330 m long and 95 m wide. The first lot provided for the development of three buildings for tertiary businesses and relative car parking spaces for an overall area of 43,000 sq.m. The two low buildings (9 floors on a base of 75×20 metres) are characterised by the use of high-resistance concrete and by a cutting-edge technology that makes it possible to limit the size of the pillars. The second lot involved the construction of new buildings for residential use and a commercial area with relative car parking spaces for a surface area of 40,000 sq.m. The residential buildings are divided into two types according to their dimensions: low residential buildings of 4 or 5 floors and much higher residential buildings. In line with Lot 1, Lot 2 also has four underground floors for car parking, storerooms and technical rooms.
The entire Porta Nuova Varesine building complex has been constructed guaranteeing high standards of safety and quality. In this way, it has been able to meet the requirements for the LEED Gold level International Certification.
One of the biggest challenges in the development of this tower has been the organisational management of the logistics-timing aspects of the work. The reason is structural: the building is composed of a steel structure that develops around a central core of reinforced concrete.
