Tramway, Line 3: opening of the Strozzi-Strozzi underpass in Firenze

On 1st June the “Strozzi-Strozzi” vehicular underpass was opened, the second important work of art developed by CMB as part of the project for the construction of line 3 of the Florence tramway.

The line touches one of the most delicate traffic junctions of the city, Fortezza da Basso.

In order to avoid congestions due to the meeting of road and rail traffic, two important vehicular underpasses have been developed with the aim of restoring a “green” profile to the new Fortezza square.

“It’s another very important step, involving mobility developments connected with the tramway – the Mayor, Dario Nardella, underlined at the event -. The second and final underpass that links to the one already opened under piazzale Fallaci is opened.” In this way, he added, “we will have a decidedly improved mobility around the Fortezza, along the roads that reach this spot, viale Lavagnini and viale Strozzi, and we are beginning to see what Florence will be like in a few months. A revolutionized city, with trams on the surface, cars going underground and traffic which will be significantly reduced together with the smog.”
